【圖】王涌天教授當(dāng)選為國(guó)際光學(xué)工程學(xué)會(huì)會(huì)士

    近日,經(jīng)嚴(yán)格評(píng)審,國(guó)際光學(xué)工程學(xué)會(huì)(International Society for Optical Engineering,SPIE)公布了今年新當(dāng)選的72名會(huì)士(Fellow of the SPIE), 我校王涌天教授因其在光學(xué)設(shè)計(jì)、光學(xué)儀器設(shè)備、圖像處理、虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)和增強(qiáng)現(xiàn)實(shí)技術(shù)等方面的創(chuàng)造性工作,而成為其中一員。

    王涌天,我校信息科學(xué)技術(shù)學(xué)院教授,博士生導(dǎo)師,“長(zhǎng)江學(xué)者獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)計(jì)劃”特聘教授,光電信息技術(shù)與顏色工程研究所所長(zhǎng)。他所帶領(lǐng)的創(chuàng)新團(tuán)隊(duì)長(zhǎng)期在技術(shù)光學(xué)和虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)領(lǐng)域從事教學(xué)和科研工作,目前承擔(dān)的科研項(xiàng)目包括國(guó)家重點(diǎn)基礎(chǔ)研究發(fā)展規(guī)劃(973)課題、國(guó)家高技術(shù)研究發(fā)展計(jì)劃(863)課題、國(guó)家自然科學(xué)基金課題、北京市科技計(jì)劃課題和國(guó)際合作課題。主要研究方向包括成像和照明光學(xué)系統(tǒng)設(shè)計(jì)和CAD,新型光學(xué)元件,虛擬現(xiàn)實(shí)和增強(qiáng)現(xiàn)實(shí)技術(shù)、系統(tǒng)和應(yīng)用,醫(yī)學(xué)圖像處理與手術(shù)導(dǎo)航等方面。王涌天教授多次應(yīng)邀擔(dān)任由國(guó)際光學(xué)委員會(huì)(ICO)、國(guó)際光學(xué)工程學(xué)會(huì)(SPIE)、中國(guó)光學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)(COS)、美國(guó)光學(xué)學(xué)會(huì)(OSA)組織的國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)議的大會(huì)組委會(huì)成員、分會(huì)主席、特邀報(bào)告人,以及國(guó)際標(biāo)準(zhǔn)組織有關(guān)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的制定專家組成員。

    國(guó)際光學(xué)工程學(xué)會(huì)(SPIE)成立于1955年,是一個(gè)致力于光學(xué)、光子學(xué)、光電子學(xué)和成像領(lǐng)域的知識(shí)交流、收集、傳播和應(yīng)用的非贏利性的著名專業(yè)學(xué)會(huì)。SPIE每年在獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金、研究基金和科技教育及創(chuàng)新活動(dòng)方面投資超過90萬美元,其主要任務(wù)包括向會(huì)員及國(guó)際工程科學(xué)界提供信息、教育產(chǎn)品及服務(wù),為光學(xué)及光子學(xué)領(lǐng)域的交流及其與其他領(lǐng)域的互動(dòng)提供平臺(tái),針對(duì)新興技術(shù)組織會(huì)議及教育項(xiàng)目等。SPIE每年召開約26個(gè)學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)議,所形成的會(huì)議文獻(xiàn)反映了相應(yīng)專業(yè)領(lǐng)域的最新進(jìn)展和動(dòng)態(tài),具有極高的學(xué)術(shù)價(jià)值;具有信息量大、報(bào)導(dǎo)速度快、涉及交叉學(xué)科領(lǐng)域廣泛等特點(diǎn),已成為光學(xué)及其應(yīng)用領(lǐng)域科技人員極為重視和歡迎的情報(bào)源,是國(guó)際著名的會(huì)議文獻(xiàn)出版物。

Yongtian Wang Elected SPIE Fellow

  SPIE will honor 72 new Fellows of the Society this year. Fellows are members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics, and imaging. They are honored for their technical achievement, for their service to the general optics community, and to SPIE in particular. More than 500 SPIE members have become Fellows since the Society's inception in 1955.

  "The annual recognition of Fellows provides an opportunity for us to acknowledge outstanding members for their service to the general optics community," says Kevin G. Harding, SPIE President

  Yongtian Wang, Professor of Optics, Beijing Institute of Technology, China, for specific achievements in optical instrumentation and image processing.

  Wang's significant contributions involve optical design, optical instrumentation, image processing, virtual reality, and augmented reality technologies and applications. He developed a sophisticated software package called General Optical Lens Design (GOLD), which incorporated advanced theories and algorithms for analyzing and optimizing optical systems. For his work on the software, he received the Chinese Academy of Sciences Award and the National Award for Progress in Science and Technology. Wang also leads the research and development of optical systems, algorithms, and software for the on-site digital restoration of Yuanmingyuan, a famous and historic royal garden which was burnt down in the 1860s.

  Wang has been the director of the Research Center for Optoelectronic Technology and Information System at Beijing Institute of Technology since its establishment in 2004.

  His service to the optics community is substantial Wang is a director of the Chinese Optical Society, a director of the Visual-Audio Engineering Society of the China Instrument and Control Society, and a member of the Virtual Reality Professional Committee of the China Society of Image and Graphics. He is active with several societies, having helped organize multiple congresses and conferences. Wang's contributions to SPIE are important as well, for example he organized and co-chaired the Optical Design and Testing conferences of Photonics Asia 2002,2004 and 2007, and overall has helped facilitate continuing collaborations with SPIE throughout China.
